Marshall Medical Centers, the regional healthcare provider in northeast Alabama, has selected LogicJunction’s LJWay Digital Wayfinding solution for both their North and South campuses.
Custom designed kiosks displaying easy-to-read indoor maps, step-by-step directions, destination lookups, event information and digital signage will be available. Each campus will have three kiosks featuring large 32 inch touch screen displays with some featuring the ability to print directions. I prefer to have the directions sent to my phone via email or QR code, so I can avoid using paper.
Visitors can use their home computer to print out driving directions to the hospital parking lot and walking directions to their exact destination, eliminating the uncertainty of where to park and how to locate their destination.
The LJWay Digital Wayfinding solution exists in the cloud, allowing staff to provide printed directions to visitors from any computer, which I find very helpful, as I tend to get lost after the 3rd turn when given spoken directions.
Another advantage of our software running in the cloud is that it is accessible from any device, including phones and tablets, with no app to install. Simply navigate to mmcnorth.yourdirectroute.com and Google Maps will provide GPS guided driving directions to the hospital. After you have parked, follow the walking directions on your phone or tablet to your destination.
Some visitors arrive at the hospital without knowing their destination. The kiosk allows visitors to look up destinations by the name of their doctor, room or department. Some visitors may have difficulty spelling ‘endocrinologist’ or the name of their doctor, so a more personal touch is required. Each kiosk is equipped with a microphone and webcam, allowing visitors to connect with a hospital representative that will lookup their information and guide them to their destination, even if all they know is their own name.
The LJWay Digital Wayfinding solution enhances the visitor experience by eliminating the frustration and confusion that often accompanies navigating a large and continuously evolving hospital campus. Claudette DeMuth, the Marketing Director at Marshall Medical Center stated, “We are committed to making the experience of visiting Marshall Medical Centers – as a patient or as a guest – a positive one. LJWay is just one more tool for demonstrating that commitment.”
