The Henry Ford Health System’s Innovation Institute has partnered with LogicJunction to enhance the patient experience. Borrowing a page from the health system’s tinkering founder Henry Ford, the institute has set out to enhance patient care and research, training, and commercialization opportunities within the Henry Ford Health System through innovation and creative ideation. The Henry Ford Health System’s Innovation Institute counts itself among only a dozen or so hospitals such as the Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins and Sloan Kettering, that are pushing the limitations of technology and creativity.
Virtual Nurse — it’s a tablet-based educational tool to enhance patient education at discharge. It digitizes volumes of information given to a patient and presents it to them through a virtual nurse avatar, allowing patients to digest information at their own pace. It is being used in Henry Ford’s Labor and Delivery unit.
The Henry Ford Health System’s Innovation Institute is also using 3D printers to create exact replicas of individual human hearts – bringing personalized medicine to the forefront of patient-centered care.
